Hello there!

I'm Erik, a passionate level designer originally from Gothenburg, who studies at Futuregames Stockholm where I'm currently finishing up my education. Previously I studied Game design at the University of Skövde where I finished my degree as a Bachelors of Science.

To me, getting the chance to plan out, create and iterate on levels using space to both support and challenge players through it, is such an intensely rewarding feeling. That feeling is only improved when hearing players have fun experiencing something that you created.

I also feel like level design is one of the aspects that to me has the biggest impact when playing games. Making sure players can utilize their setup and mechanics, in combination with a cohesive level that expresses it's own unique story can make or break the immersion when playing the game.

I believe that my strengths as a level designer stems from:

  • Communication

    • Collaboration and willingness to learn from others is the reason I have grown as a level designer during my time at Futuregames. Both giving and receiving feedback is something that has come to be one of the most important parts of my workflow.

  • Flexibility

    •  Having worked on several different games in various different genres, with multiple diverse teams, I'm quick to adapt my workflow depending on both the teams and games strengths, weaknesses and needs.

  • Consistency

    • I make sure to set goals for myself and my projects, but also to document my work. Having completed my goals I use them to evaluate and understand if the results support the level and systems in use to ultimately make the product better, holding myself accountable to the task at hand.

Interests

During my free time I try to push myself to learn and grow as a person, constantly finding new goals to achieve.
